Welcome to IPA’s Github!

Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is a research and policy nonprofit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems. IPA brings together researchers and decision-makers to design, rigorously evaluate, and refine these solutions and their applications, ensuring that the evidence created is used to improve the lives of the world’s poor.

This Github is managed by IPA’s Global Research and Data Support (GRDS) team. The GRDS team manages IPA’s research protocols, trainings, and resources. This Github holds all resources created by the GRDS team and IPA staff to assist in achieving IPA’s research protocols and standardize solutions to common issues encountered during survey data collection.

How to Contribute

Do you have a resource or tool that you would like to share on the IPA Github? You can create a repository on our Github to develop and maintain any resources you would like to share with the IPA and wider research community. Keep in mind that all user-written commands must follow this template. Guides can be added to our guides site and follow a similar format to the Data Cleaning Guide. Email researchsupport@poverty-action.org to create a new repository.

Private project repositories are also available for free if IPA staff would like to work on their projects from Github! Simply email researchsupport@poverty-action.org with:

Please keep in mind that no repositories can include any datasets that contain personally identifiable information (PII).

How to Report Issues

If you encounter an error in any of the resources, or have ideas for improvement, please let us know! Every repository has an Issues page where you can share any bugs with a minimal reproducible example. You can navigate to the end of readme file of any repository to find the link to the Issues page. You can also directly send emails for discussion on improvements to researchsupport@poverty-action.org.
